equus

a place to reflect on mistakes made

Tony has made many mistakes in his time as Mayor of Rita. Destroying his city. Killing his people. Keeping it all a secret from the public. They have their suspicions. . Redeeming himself is his ultimate goal. That...and beautiful architecture. His own home is no exception. Taking in all of the UNITS that are required. Plus a bit more. A place to hide. To forget the mistakes. To reflect. To look to the future.

A kitchen dining living lounge room. A study bedroom. A bathroom. A Tower to reflect. And to look forward. Out to the skies to see the future and new developments. And to Hide. From those that are after him.

house.one

Planes passing over one another to form box structures make up this house. Slits are cut into the roof planes. Like cracks in Tony’s life, self inflicted. Creating strips of light throughout each section of the house. The house is split into 4 sections. A bedroom with study. A Bathroom. A kitchen, dining and living room. And a tower. The interior walls of the tower are lined with mirrors to create a 360 degree reflective view.

house.two

This design pushes and pulls these planes from house.one, creating an enclosed box with the tower pushing up out of the building. The bedroom and bathroom are separate with the rest of the design being totally open planned. The Slit window has morphed with the pushing and pulling of the plains.

house.three

Again this design is an exploration of cantileaving roof structure. The layout is similar to house.one, broken up into 4 parts. In this design the tower is a true hiding place with secret access from the main structure. The passage between includes an area in which you must crawl. The Tower again is lined with mirrors for ultimate reflection.

Stepping in a different direction. The circular structure of the roof is the focal point of this design. It is made up of several planes layered upon each other. The tower in this structure is lying on its side, splitting the building. This is the only entrance to the structure. It is a small space that can only be accessed on hands and knees. The mirror in this tower is only small, for close personal reflection.
